Bascinet | Knightly Helmet c. 1385 | Steel C45 2 mm

The bascinet with a short, flattened klappvisier visor is a classic late medieval knightly helmet, based on the original from the Kunstsammlungen der Veste collection in Coburg (Northern Germany, Lübeck), dated around 1385. The visor resembles a mole’s muzzle, providing high facial protection while maintaining good visibility and ventilation.

The visor is movable, attached with a top hinge, allowing it to be raised and locked in the open position. Optionally, the helmet can feature a removable visor and additional neck protection, suitable for Buhurt combat.

The bascinet has a lower edge with holes for attaching the lining and tubular hooks for securing the chainmail.

The helmet is handmade to measure, with full customization options for fit, finish, chain mail, and additional accessories. It combines an authentic medieval appearance with the functionality and comfort of modern reenactments and full-contact combat.
